My Jam Pot Runneth Over
Life plods on here at the Dollshouse, theres ponys to be decked with hedgerow flowers & ridden home in a torrential downpour yuck we were soaked!
The kitchen garden is yelding its treasures every day, more delicious turnips, courgettes & the cherokee trail of tears beans are giving a handful every day now. its the first time we have grown these beans,I had heard much about them & was keen to try them, but they started off dreadfully, very yellow looking & sickly, slow to get going but suddenly poomppff they were off hurrah! the beans are gorgeous, very tasty indeed & its going to be nice to seed save from this one, they were from the The Real Seed Company so they are proper seeds that can be saved unlike F1 types.
Blackcurrents are in great abundance here,I so far have made 19 jars of blackcurrent & then the raspberry although one of those has vanished very fast hahahah it was so scrummy! We use a pot of jam a week here, especially in winter when its dolloped on to morning porridge so I see 19 weeks worth in the storecupboard (well more because theres the marmalade & raspberry & soon will be plum time yum) I would be really chuffed if I could get enough made for at least half a year, obviously a years worth is always the aim but we shall see!
The money has all be totted up for the summer party & the picnic history day we had the other weekend, the party raised £882 & the picnic history day £243 so its over ONE THOUSAND POUNDS! from 2 events thats just amazing news! I am going to see if we can do a winter bonfire party with jacket potatos & soup & rolls :o)
Funny to be thinking of winter in these glorious summer days isnt it though lol! the smalls spent the afternoon in the garden,I dont know if you can see the little owl nest they made in the growing lilac shrub :o) They really were hilarious yesterday, constant nattering about all manner of things,a delivery driver dropping off a parcel for another place got quizzed on moths & larvea & eggs, until he was laughing so much,he said they were just magnificent :o)
I know I beamed :o)
Thankyou for all your kind messages x I am doing fine & keeping busy, but trying to rest up a bit earlier in the evenings :o)
Its not just my jam pot that truly runneth over :o)

Didn't we do well at the recent events?
Wishing you all the best.

Take care you {HUG},

PS Glad to see your blackcurrant jam didn't burn to the bottom of the pan like mine!
You're obviously better at growing blackcurrants than I am - I've got a very low yield again!
I'm sending you some distant healing to calm and relax you as well as to work on whatever the problem is. Take care of yourself.
(virtual hug) x
Your yields of produce are fantastic.... and that jam looks simply delicious!!!
Adore your photographs and think the photograph of the smalls is absolutely gorgeous!!
Thinking of you and sending you healing vibes through cyberspace!!
Take it easy!!
With Love, Jane xxxx

What a lovely post, but hope you are feeling better soon. I've been jam making too - blackcurrants from the garden, ditto gooseberries last month, and yesterday I got 3 Pineapples for a pound at the ex-market stall guy's place in Abergwili. I just LOVE jam making . . .
